Whale Watching

Whale watching in Sri Lanka became a phenomenon in the year 2009 after the seas were declared open concluding the end of the war. The main area for Whale Watching is Dondra Point off the southern coast. The season for Whale Watching is from December to April and the peak months are December, January and April.

Accessible primarily via Mirissa, an excursions begins early in the morning around 6AM and lasts for around 3 – 5 hours. The best boats provide life jackets, water, breakfast and lifeguards on board. There also will be a bathroom on board to cater to the long journey
